Gleaning the Harvest
by adustyframe ~ January 22nd, 2009
Last week, I updated you all on how I’m doing in this post.
I wrote that after an afternoon on the couch asking God to give me wisdom and show me what to do. I had a big lump of stress in my middle. I told the Lord that these burdens do not feel light and I don’t know what to do.
I asked him to help me give all my cares to him.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
As I prayed, I felt little bits of the stress relieving. I’d say, “Ok Lord, I’m giving my job search to you.” “I’m giving my worries to you.” I still felt the stress inside and I felt as though the Lord was holding his hand out saying, “Give me the rest of it. Come on, that little bit you’re holding onto as well.”
Little by little I released my worries and frustrations, my cares and my fears to him and I felt the anxiety ease. I fell asleep actually and it was probably just what I needed. I had not felt well all week last week.
When I woke up, I felt much better and I think I’ve given God my worries and am settling into trusting him to care for us and to give me wisdom on what to do.
When I went to the computer that night, one comment on my post said, “You should check this out.”
“This” was Gleaning the Harvest a site I had not heard of and probably would not have run across without the comment left here.
I looked at it but I wasn’t really sure that I’d fit their goals. I prayed about it and decided to contact them and let them decide.
You’ll be happy to know that I’ve been “vetted”! Mrs. Dixon spoke with my pastor and they decided to include me on their pages.
I don’t know at this point where all this will lead or what will come of it, but I can’t help but be relieved to find that there are people who truly understand the importance of single moms being able to educate their children at home.
Here is an excerpt from their site.
We have felt for some time that it is the Body’s responsibility as much as we are able to help these moms remain in the home, being a Keeper at Home and home school mom. We understand that sometimes the burden is so great that moms must go out and get a job, but, as a wife and mom who is staying home, following what we believe to be the LORD’s plan for women, we asked ourselves why it should be different for a single mom. Why can’t we lessen the burden?
You can read more about their mission here.
I still continue to work at home and sell on Etsy and Ebay. I will take piano students or childcare if it comes my way. I will still look for some sort of part time job that will still allow me to do what I know is God’s will for my family.
Many many of my faithful readers have sent James and I gifts. You have purchased items from my shop. You have checked on me and offered prayers and encouragement time and time again.
I’m not asking you to give more (or anything!) but if you feel led to put my graphic on your blog or on your facebook page to help spread the word about this ministry, I’d be very grateful. The more people that know about this the better it will be for everyone involved.
To the person who let me know about this site, I want to thank you. Your information came at exactly the right time.
Here are the pages that were set up about James and I. You can snag the graphic and html there.

Praise God that someone is doing something for single mothers who believe that their place is STILL with their children!

Lizzie,
Janet forwarded this to me. It seems like an answer to prayer. I’ve so long talked about and desired to see someone do something similar to this. I praise God for His answers.
Blessings!
