Every Sunrise by Tricia Goyer Blog Tour & Contest
by adustyframe ~ March 11th, 2009I was given the opportunity to review Tricia Goyer’s newest book Every Sunrise. I’m delighted to be part of the blog tour. To see other blogs review of this book hop over here.
I’ve only read one of her books before so I looked forward to the opportunity to read her newest book.
The book is a pretty hardcover book. I like the artwork on the front. It looks very peaceful.
I enjoyed reading about this family and their adjustment during a trial–something I know a little bit about!
I didn’t realize this was an entire series, but it’s true that the story stands alone. I will have to find the rest of the books though to see what happened previously.
The characters seemed very real and relevant. It was interesting reading it from the perspective of a Grandma raising her grandchildren.
I also enjoyed the setting on a farm and small town. The story left me wondering what happened before and hoping that everything works out in the future stories!
Here is what Tricia’s page says about the book. Oh! you need to hop over there to enter her contest too.
Every Sunrise is book 7 in the Home to Heather Creek series. (And don’t worry…if you haven’t read the rest of the series yet, the book stands alone.) The bleak winter days make February on Heather Creek Farm a test of endurance, and as winter wears on, Sam becomes more and more withdrawn and unhappy.
Bob is busy planning a surprise for Charlotte, and Christopher is excited about a local writing competition, while a Valentine’s Day flower from a secret source lifts Emily’s spirits. But when Sam disappears from the farm one night, chasing a memory of the father who abandoned them all, Charlotte and Bob need all the help—and prayer—they can get to bring him home safely. This broken family needs God’s help like never before, but their trials remind them all that every sunrise brings a new beginning.
Oh…and the best part is the EVERY FOODIE contest!
Okay…this book is loaded with yummy food: strawberry cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, baked chicken with cornbread, chocolate cake, pancakes with homemade syrup, French onion soup, parmesan crusted chicken…well you get the idea!
So the contest for this tour will be the EVERY FOODIE contest! Leave a comment on this post with your favorite meal and a recipe (feel free to post more than one recipe for additional entries in the contest!)! I’ll choose the one that most tantalizes my taste buds to receive an entire set of the Home to Heather Creek series (books 1-7)!
Five runner’s up will win a copy of Every Sunrise (or another Tricia Goyer book of their choice).
I was also given the opportunity to interview Tricia. Here’s what she had to say:
1. Do you have a special way to celebrate when a book is accepted for publication?
Yes, I usually do something fun with the family. We go out to the movies or out to dinner to celebrate. They ARE my team. I couldn’t do this without my husband and kids giving their full support, so I love to include them in the celebration.
2. Is every published book as much of a thrill as the 1st one?
Yes! Honestly, I get SO excited with the steps—finishing the book, seeing the cover, holding it in my hands. I carried Every Sunrise around for days. Then, one day I started skimming through it and I began reading it again! I honestly read the whole thing and couldn’t put it down until the end. ;0)
3. Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
I get inspiration everywhere, in life—through life. Most of my ideas come through interaction with my family, through events of my past, through a bit of Scripture, through something I read. The ideas start to form, and then they bounce around in my head for a while. Then, the ideas that refuse to still are the ones I pursue further. If I keep thinking about an idea I send a note to my agent. If she likes it, then I start jotting down notes. She’s been a gem at telling me which ideas to pursue and which … well, don’t quite work.
4. What do you do when you get writer’s block?
Writer’s block? I honestly don’t know what that is. Yes, there are times I get to a place in a book where I’m stuck … then I take it to God in prayer. But honestly, I just start and then move to the next thing … chapter ideas, outlines, scenes, characters. It’s like putting a puzzle together. The pieces are all there, I just need to form them into something someone else can understand.
5. What does a typical writing day look like for you?
No day is typical. My #1 goal is to do first things first. Today that meant working through emails, jotting down notes for a project, taking my son to lunch, running a few errands, writing some more, and then I spoke at a teen rally. Tomorrow, I’ll be homeschooling, interview, writing, and meeting with teen moms. Somehow if I follow God and love and serve people, then the writing gets done.
6. What is the one thing about being an author you want people to know?
It’s the best job ever BUT a lot of work. The work doesn’t finish when the book is done … it’s just the start of the process.
7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
God in me. I’d be lost without him!
Thank you, Tricia, for the opportunity to interview you and read your new book.
Don’t forget to enter the contest!
