Total Language Plus

by adustyframe ~ March 19th, 2009

When I started listing on Etsy last year, I joined a homeschooling team. All of the ladies are very nice and encouraging.

Kris emailed me and asked if I’d like to have a novel and study guide to use in our homeschooling. I told her that Caddie Woodlawn is on the list for next year and she sent me the novel (and a couple others) as well as the guide from Total Language Plus.

I hadn’t heard of this company before so I enjoyed looking through the catalog and the guide. Here’s their explanation of how it works.

Total Language Plus uses excellent books and as the students read, they fill in the worksheets. The guide is written from a Christian perspective.

I looked through it again tonight and really liked it. It includes the following:

*Vocabulary

*A Glossary for the child to fill in as they read.

*Grammar lessons

*Puzzles

*Writing Assignments

*Spelling

*Enrichment activities.

It includes field trip activities and project ideas too. I saw a suggestion to go berry picking for example.

The guide should take 7-10 weeks to complete. The reading is done 10-15 minutes per day, then the activities are completed.

Thank you, Kris, for the lovely books and for the study guide. I’m sure we’ll put them to very good use.

Make sure you check out her Etsy shop too.

(If you’d like to contact her, you can email her at kristine @ totallanguageplus.com

I have been using TLP for about 11 years with my kids when they reach 9th grade. They love it.

I would love to see this! I think that this would be a great option for Tabitha since reading is her strong suit.

Thank you for sharing about this. I really appreciate it.
