He Will Deliver

2 Corinthians 1:8-11

For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.

I have had this verse in my “posts to write” list for quite awhile. When I just read them again, I was encouraged again.

I’m not going through the persecution that Paul endured by any means, but sometimes I do feel like I’m pressed out of measure!

What a great reminder, that I do not trust in myself, but in my God. And I can trust that in his way and in his time, he will deliver us.

Your faith and trust continue to rebuke AND encourage me! Thank you for staying faithful to your marriage and to God, and for being so transparent!

  2. Lisa

Good Word! I have been concerned for you, and am glad to hear you sounding encouraged. I pray that God will give you the sound of abundance of rain!

    Thanks for caring about me!

  3. Susanna

Being ‘pressed out of measure’ makes me think of Satan trying to sift us through a sieve. He is trying to push us through a shape which, as the Lord’s people, we just can’t fit through….but he keeps shaking none the less- but only under Gods’ control- and that sifting and pressing will stop one day

It will stop one day! Amen

Yes, it is something we need to remember – trust not in ourselves, but in God, the giver of life and our strength. Only through His awesome power could we hope to be anything in this world. he is our strongtower, our deliverer, our God in whom we are to trust. :)

I will be praying for you, Mrs. Norris. I am sorry you are feeling distressed. I will pray for the peace of God to be on you all throughout your day. May you be held in the palm of His hand.

    With love,
    Rachel

Amen Lizzie. We are pressed on every side sometimes, but we serve a great Father who has already taken care of it all. It is not for us to know, but for us to trust as a child trusts his parent to care for and protect, even if we do not understand the means.

May the LORD give you faith and strength as you trust in him.

    blessings~

Oh, and I wanted to say thank you for the encouragement, This is a very encouraging Scripture and reminds us of all the LORD has brought his people through.

To think of those brothers and sisters who really have so little already in other countries and are truly persecuted for the LORD… This is a great encouragement. Thank you~
