Fasting
by adustyframe ~ March 24th, 2009I’m still working on 12 Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur. Yesterday, I was reading the chapter on Anna. It spoke of her prayers and fasting.
Then John MacArthur says,
“Abstaining from food per se has no mystical effect on anything spiritual. But fasting with prayer reveals a heart so consumed with praying, and so eager to receive the blessing being sought, that the person simply has no interest in eating. That is when fasting has real value.”

Thanks for posting this. It’s interesting to me how many times the Lord has brought up fasting to me in recent days. This is something He wants us to do, but with the right motives.
