Compassion International
by adustyframe ~ April 8th, 2009When James was 4 or 5, he started noticing the commercials for children in third world countries and he wanted to help.
I didn’t have extra money to spend and I didn’t know how to find out what charities were safe to send money to.
My friend Gigi and I went to see Ken Davis and there I heard about Compassion. I wished again that we had money to help.
I wrote last year about James’ blessing and shared with you that a friend paid for him to sponsor a child. We’ve enjoyed learning about Dauglas and praying for him.
James prays for him every night that he will be healthy and come to know God. We got a letter the other day with a new photo. He thanked us for the Christmas gift and the photo showed us what he bought. A shirt, shorts, socks, and shoes.
We promptly put his photo on the fridge and today I prayed for him as I washed dishes. It’s amazing how they find their way into our hearts. It’s special for me to watch my son care about a boy clear across the world.
The letter from Dauglas was written by a careworker. Part of it said, “He says he loves you so much and that may the almighty God be with you in whatever you do. That is his prayer for you.”
How awesome that he’s praying for us too!
Have you checked out Compassion yet? It doesn’t cost much to make a huge difference in the life of a child.

THANK YOU for writing this! You KNOW Compassion is near and dear to my heart, and I hear much the same in you
. What a blessing to have a friend in your life who’s helping support y’all to do this. YOU (and James
) are making a difference in Douglas’ life; he’ll remember you for the rest of his!

Awww. that’s so cool! I’m falling back on my letter writing. I better start getting to it! I better schedule a letter writing day every month.

I also have liked Compassion International (the kid I started sponsoring in college just graduated from high school… time does fly by).
Our five year old just started sponsoring a child himself, though we pay part of it. He has been excited to send letters – we haven’t gotten one back yet; hopefully it will be coming soon.
