A little Girl~Repost

by adustyframe ~ April 16th, 2009

My son and I were shopping tonight for cleaning stuff, printer ink, etc.

I waited for him outside the bathroom while he ran in.

A little girl, a complete stranger was waiting for someone too. She looked up at me with sparking happy eyes.

“My brother just got out of xyz” (a juvenile prison)

“He’s coming HOME!”

I smiled at her and said, “That is so exciting. You will be so happy to see him.”

Then her family member came out of the bathroom and so did my son.

As we walked away, I couldn’t help thinking how excited she was. How she couldn’t wait for the homecoming.

I felt tears sting my eyes. Not that I was sad that our homecoming isn’t yet. I was sad for her. I was sad that another child knows how sad and hard this is.

Obviously I know that millions of children know how hard and sad incarceration is.

Her little happy eyes and delight over her brother coming home just seemed to sum it up for me.

I know that my little boy will be telling complete strangers too. News like that is too good to hold inside.

I pray the homecoming will be sooner than later.

What a blessing that God had YOUR little boy needing the bathroom, and not someone else who may have responded “Why was your brother in jail?” instead of with encouragement! What a blessing that must have been, even if the girl never realized it.

    How amazing what God does!

Now I’m praying for her family, too.
