The Word of God

by adustyframe ~ June 9th, 2009

Quite awhile ago, Lee befriended a Druid in the prison.

Yes, I said a Druid. This man grew up in a Christian home and supposedly has a conversion testimony.

He asked Lee some questions and Lee referred him to our Pastor.

Pastor wrote to him a few times.

The other day in church, Pastor relayed this story.

The Druid wrote to Pastor asking him how to get the Word of God out of his head.

Pastor told him that he can’t and even if he could “get the Word of God out of his head” Pastor wouldn’t tell him how to do it anyway.

The man said that it’s just that everytime he tries to do what he wants to do Bible verses come to his mind.

Isn’t that awesome? I laughed about that actually–in a good way.

Do you see how important it is to memorize Scripture? I think of all the verses James and the other children learn in AWANA. Those verses will come to their mind for the rests of their lives even when they want to do wrong.

Hebrews 4:12

For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…. and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I love this…..a great encouragement to help our little ones hide the Word in their hearts now.

I’ve been trying to respond to yesterday’s Works of God Monday post repeatedly, but it’s not working.

Anyway – it was so great yesterday, as soon as I logged on, I learned that a Nepali pastor who had been falsely imprisoned for 9 years has been released. Then, I received an e-mail linking me to just as amazing a story – about the son of a Hamas terrorist leader who has trusted Christ and is exposing Islam. I blogged about both, as the two incidents really were great moves of God. He often moves in dramatic, unexpected ways that can reinforce our faith.

I’m sorry, I can’t help but laugh, too – that is so awesome!! OH my gosh…you’d think he’d figure it out that there’s a reason it won’t leave his head, but I guess not. I pray someday.

  7. Pam

I have been on some heavy-duty medication….it makes it diffcult to concentrate and pray….it’s very frustrating…I am thankful however that Bible verses are still “there” and I can cling to those….it reminds me of a sweet little Christian lady who lived in a nursing home where my father in-law was….she quietly sang hymns and recited verses all day long…she didn’t recognize anyone…..but she spoke those words and songs in such a quiet peaceful way you knew that the spirit of God was still using her….God Bless, Pam

  8. Susanna

hmmmm…and will he wonder why they won’t go away?…and just why they bother him if they are not true?…..Isn’t it amazing that God chooses to use us when His word is powerful enough to wipe away all oposition
