Rose Bushes~repost

by adustyframe ~ August 4th, 2009

In March, I wrote about my rose bushes. They bloomed this week.

I’m so excited. They are beautiful and they smell delightful. Every time I pull into the driveway I get a good look at them and smile.

Earlier this week, rain destroyed quite a few of the new blooms leaving the bush with frumpy parts. I thought about the illustration I used in March when I compared my marriage to the rose bush. I believe it still applies.

The rose bush has some frumpy spots. Some of the blooms were blown away and their petals are scattered underneath the bush. Yet it still cheerily blooms with beautiful roses.

Our marriage is like that. Prison was the blowing away of the blooms. The stress and exhaustion of this trial are the frumpy spots. Yet our marriage has some beautiful blooms that are both cheerful and delightful.

God is good. I am so thankful that he has been working on us and repairing this marriage. I’m thankful that like my rose bush, my marriage is displaying some gorgeous blooms.

So so happy for you and your dear husband! May the Lord continue to knit your heartstrings together in new and delightful ways!

What a beautiful analogy! I got my herb garden started late this year. The other day, we had a really hard rain that flattened most of my little plants. This morning when I checked, most of them are straightening out again. Isn’t that just like us? We get beaten down, get our strength back, and stand tall again!

I’m still praying that Lee will be able to get a full-time job. My friend here, who’s waiting for his trial date, is also looking for work. Whenever I think of one, I think of the other.
