Catch Up Chat
by adustyframe ~ August 12th, 2009I feel out of the groove after being without the computer for so many days!
James and I are having “stay cation” this week. We’re doing something fun every day and he’s eating donuts for breakfast.Today we went swimming with friends, tomorrow we’re going fishing.
I started knitting a baby blanket for my brother and sister in law’s baby. I have until after Christmas, so I hope I get it done!
James had a tummy bug on Sunday and we missed the church picnic. We think it’s from the hot dogs he ate at his friend’s party on Saturday (oops!).
My dear friend Joy was here for one day last week and she’s coming back for most of the week next week. We’re so excited.
I started the South Beach diet on Monday. I did it for quite awhile last fall and then fell off the wagon. I’m doing good so far.
I just finished reading Little Heathens. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s about a family on an Iowa farm during the Depression. The only con about the book was the chapter on the swear words they learned from the big kids. The rest made me chuckle.
My garden seems to be thinking about calling it quits. The cucumbers never grew–they were overtaken by morning glories. The pumpkins flowered profusely but no pumpkins. The beans grew very well and are still producing. I’m waiting on the tomatoes to ripen. It looks like there will be lots of those.
Lee is still looking for a job. Even the temp agencies aren’t calling. I’m trying to trust trust trust and not worry.
We appreciate all your prayers. All this adjusting is really hard and we’ve had some rough moments. I’m sure there will be more as we figure out how to do this again.
The roommate situation has been interesting. He likes to eat all of Lee’s food which is a bit annoying, but on the other hand, he’s opened up to Lee a bit and Lee has been able to share some things about the Lord with him. I need to blog about those to share with you.
And have you forgotten that we’re having a little fun around here next week? Don’t forget!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ” Mt 6:34
Let God be beside you thru it. Hard to do many days, but give it your best shot. I’m still praying for Lee about the job. Sadly with the economy the way it is and his “past” it may be very, very tough for him which won’t help either of you. Praying and praying.
You are right! His record makes it more difficult. God knows what we need though. Thank you for praying.

Good luck on the SB diet. I’ve tried that in the past. I didn’t loose a lot of weight, but I definately had more energy. I’ve thought about trying it again, but have developed some food allergies and don’t think I could do it very easily. I have kept up with what I can and am now addicted to good quality steak. =)
Sorry to hear about your garden. Mine is kind of puny this year too.

“stay cation”…I like that word! That’s what we are doing this year too! I know another family that did it and had a great week! Who says you have to go away to rest and have a good time!

Enjoyed catching up with you! Enjoy the rest of your “staycation.”
Thanks! James loved it best of all because he got to pick so many things to do.
