Birthday Cards #1
by adustyframe ~ August 17th, 2009
Some of my long time readers sent A Dusty Frame birthday cards which I will share over the week.
If you’d like to share how you found my blog or how God has used it in your life, please do so on any of the birthday card posts.
Pam has been a constant encouragement and prayer partner. Here’s her card.
Happy Birthday Dusty Frame!!!
I found you roughly 2 years ago this fall.
My husband works for a large midwestern university.
It was a home football game weekend.
A woman came into his office and asked to use the bathroom
I could tell she had been crying. It turned out she had just
gotten a phone call that a dear friend of her’s son was
in critical condition back in her home town in Georgia.
We talked a little and I felt led to ask her if I could pray with
her. We prayed….she left and went on to the game. After the
game she came back to his office to find me. She said “I have
never told anyone this but my husband is going to prison. We have
been married 35 years, he is an attorney, we have never been
apart. Please pray for us.” The next morning I searched the web
looking for a site that might help her and I found A Dusty Frame.
She and I still write and pray for each other…….and the Dusty Frame
has been an inspiration to both of us.
I thought I was looking for something to
help her but I am inspired by reading it everyday. Lizzie’s honesty
and commitment to her family and the Lord keeps me coming back.
Thanks to you Lizzie, Lee and James for sharing your ups and downs
with your readers……I am anxious to go to you website one day soon
very soon and read that the three of you are re-united…..going to
church together, celebrating birthdays and Christmas together…..and just
enjoying everyday activites as a family.
May God continue to bless you
as you have so richly blessed others.
Pam, South Bend
**Pam, thank you for your kind words. It’s a blessing to me to hear that I’ve been able to encourage another woman in my shoes. That’s why I started this blog 3 years ago.

I don’t remember “when” I found your blog, but I remember being impressed that you were so honest about your situation. You presented Lee and his situation, as well as your family/marriage situation due to his actions, with dignity. I’ve know others in your situation and profanity is usually what is heard. Your really modeled grace from the start. I stayed out of genuine concern, wanting to see how you and James fared. I also stayed to see how Lee would cope without the structure of prison–one of the hardest steps anyone on earth ever takes. That he revealed himself to be so human was sad, but the blessing was your measured, prayerful response to his humanity. The Years Ahead will be full of times to be still and Know, but your approach to what was likely the worst moment in your life speaks so well of your faith, your mind, your soul.
