Coconut Oil~A review
by adustyframe ~ August 31st, 2009
I was sent a sample of Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil to try. I am excited to try it because I’ve just started learning about coconut oil and how to use it.
This coconut oil smells really nice. So far, I’ve put a tablespoon or two in a smoothie and put it on toast like butter. It’s really good and very good for you.
I read that coconut oil can help speed up the metabolism, so I’ve stirred a tablespoon into my coffee. That sounds weird but it’s not. It’s not oily and it didn’t make my coffee taste like coconut.
If you’d like to be introduced to Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil, you can view this short video.

Goot–to fight germs
Incorporating coconut oil into your diet
Coconut oil makes homemade soap lather nicely–although I wouldn’t use this nice coconut oil in soap! I’m keeping it for eating.
Coconut oil can be used as a personal lubricant too (hopefully I worded that tastefully!)
Now, for the good news! Tropical Traditions will give one of you a jar of their coconut oil.

I’ve used coconut oil to work on my husband’s sore muscles – it makes massage much easier, and doesn’t dry up like lotion would. The type I have is labeled for cosmetic use only, but I would LOVE to try to add this to our diet! Thanks for the ideas & recipe links!!

I would love to try this virgin coconut oil my sister (jacque) and her girls have raved about it. I loved your ideas. I have recently been working out on a reg basis and would love to try it on my sore muscles. I would also love it as a moisturizer. I bet it smells wonderful!
thanks for the info,

I might as well sign up for it, since I just re-tweeted at you!
We use it in so many ways. We cook with it, use it as a moisturizer, in coffee, as a burn remedy – burns and sunburns(if we forgot to apply before), as a sunscreen… we are also trying to remove some warts by applying it to a band-aid and putting it onto their skin. So far, it is working.
Of course, we use it a LOT in GOOT!

I love it, too! Yummy in pancakes (I learned really quickly to be careful with temp because of how quickly it solidifies in anything below 76 degrees – yikes!) Love love love it – enjoyed reading all the extra tips, especially in the comments!

I use it in place of any shortening in a recipe. I also use it to make popcorn, and saute vegetables. This is by far my favorite brand.

I am finding out that virgin coconut is such a sun fired up food source and has so many uses and with this tropical tradition gold label virgin organic coconut oil its more special than regular coconut oil. I have used it to clear up psoriasis on my daughter’s skin and scalp. We use it for cooking and in special recipes. There is no end to the use of coconut oil, but Tropical Tradition gold label virgin organic is definitely something very special I am so happy I found out about this, thank you. referred by id code blogger/ 5370870.

I use it instead of oil when baking our breakfast muffins, but I just recently learned that it can be used for people who have MSRA (a good tip, if that ever happens!).

I use coconut oil in place of any oil or shortening recipe calls for. It especially tastes good when frying potatoes. It’s wonderful in baking. Makes cakes moist and stay that way longer.
It is also good for use after shaving legs, makes them smooth and is not oily feeling. Coconut oil in the diet also helps to reduce cholesterol and helps to reduce weight. I only use coconut oil, extra-virgin olive oiland butter when cooking.

I’ve seen coconut oil on display in a shop near me lately and have been wondering how I could use it. So I’ve found a few recipes (mostly raw food recipes) that look good: coconut oil fudge is one of them. I also found a recipe for cupcake frosting that uses coconut oil and agave nectar.
I’m not a “raw foodie”, but I love to try new recipes, especially if they are supposed to be healthy.

Can’t wait to try it in many recipes. A good fat that helps you loose weight and is an avtiviral as well.

I’d like to try it in my coffee. I always use milk and this idea never occured to me. Healthier than organic milk, and probably creamer. Can’t wait to try it this way. Very interesting.

I use it in chicken soup – chicken, sea salt, onions, carrots, garlic, celery, and 1TBSP. of coconut oil
I like it & will continue using it for other things — lots of good ideas here.
Will go get the newsletter, even if I’m too late for the contest

I use coconut oil in place of oil/shortening for any recipe I can. I have also used it for making rutabaga chips (like potato chips only with rutabagas).
…and I subscribed to the newsletter. Not sure if I needed to mention that in the post or not!

I cook and bake with coconut oil; consume up to 3 tbs. right of the spoon daily, esp. since I’m doing an anti fungal diet; occasionally do oil pulling; skin moisturizer; deodorant (mixed with corn starch) but not sure I quite like using it this way…; it’s great stuff!!
