Works for me~ End of Season Tomatoes
by adustyframe ~ September 9th, 2009(I’m not putting up the logo this week. I’m on a Windows 98 dinosaur computer and it’s pretty slow and tempermental!)
At the end of the season, when the frost comes, go to your garden and pick all the green tomatoes.
Put them in brown paper bags in one layer.
Fold down the tops of the bags and line them up in your pantry or other food storage area and wait. Make sure to check them once in awhile.
You will have fresh ripe tomatoes off and on for about another 6 weeks.
Mmmm!

Seriously???!!! That is fabulous. My uncle just said I can take what is left on the vine and I need to pick it NOW. I don’t have the equipment to can but didn’t know what to do with them. I am so excited.
thanks!

That’s a great tip! Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to get a bumper crop of tomatoes where I live now, but when I did, one thing I liked to do with a bunch of green tomatoes was to make green tomato jam. I had a recipe that called for either raspberry or strawberry jello and it was fabulous! (I don’t have it handy, but I imagine you could google one.)
