I know this to be true

by adustyframe ~ October 8th, 2009

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.

Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.

One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.

I don’t have a clue who this person is, but her sentiment is so true.

I’ve expressed it like this, “I want my life back!”

So many times, I hear people complain about their husband, children, job, boring life, etc.

I wonder if they realize a boring life is a blessing. A husband who’s home (imperfect or not), children, and jobs are huge blessings. They are things that some of us don’t have and desperately long for.

I’d so prefer to have a boring life with nothing to write about.

The next time you want to complain about your life, think about the life that others deal with on a daily basis. Just thank God for the things he’s given you and find a way to make the best of it.

Funny, I’ve been praying for the day when that’s what we’ll finally be reading about on your blog! Your ho-hum, boring life with Lee and normalcy! :) You’ve more than earned the right to such a nice, ho-hum, ordinary boring life!!!

My life is pretty darned dull, I moan about it, but I also give thanks for it and wouldn’t want it any other way!!!

    WIth love,….

I tell you, this is one of the most poignant lessons I have been learning from reading your blog. That the normal everyday, however imperfect and however mundane, is to be treasured. I have begun to savor moments in my days with my child and husband more and have really thought about what I often neglect to appreciate.
I pray that the Lord gives this back to you soon.

Wow! Here’s a statment I need to remember: “Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.” Thanks!

I know this to be true, too, Lizzie — to long for a normal day and to appreciate one.
