works-of-god

A Work of God is just a blessing–big or “little”. It’s acknowledging God’s working in your life.

So how about it? What has God done in your life this past week?

You can link to any post from the past month or just leave a comment.

We have a huge one!

I told you about Lee applying at a Christian company that gives former prisoners a chance. We waited and waited and waited and finally he was called in for an interview.

Then we waited and waited and waited! 5 days after the time the man said he’d call with a decision, he called Lee in for a second interview and they hired him. He started last Wednesday.

He did a lot of preliminary things and some certifications. At first he was going to work second shift, but after a welding test they moved him to first shift to weld. He actually hates welding and was hoping to do a different job, but we’re thankful for a job!

He’ll get paid every week. I almost can’t remember what that felt like. It will be a long while until we’re caught up on bills and back on our feet, but we are so thankful!

Lee said about 50% of the employees are people he knows from an area church. The other 50% he knows from prison. He said, “That’s messed up, huh?”

One of the men from the church came over to him and welcomed him and said (as if in warning), “Now a lot of these guys who work here are from the prison.” Lee said, “Hey that’s the group I belong in.” He said he thinks he startled the man, but he got a little giggle out of it.

Thank you so much for praying. I have to be honest that I really and truly felt like it was never going to happen and I spent quite a bit of time telling God how much I didn’t understand it.

He applied for over 200 jobs since July. This job was only the second job that called him for an interview. He got very discouraged and wanted to give up and I was right there with him.

The funny thing is that he got 3 job offers in the same 24 hours! How funny is that? The other 2 were part time or seasonal jobs, but we still thought that was crazy.

So, what’s up with you?

Lizzie

    HI Lizzie

Oh – and I should say- God preserved us greatly last week. The car started making a funny noise but as it was running ok we wnet ahead with our plans to go away overnight onto Dartmoor- a large moorland area with narrow winding roads etc- and travelled the motorway to get there. On Friday David took the car to the garage- they said they were very busy but would have a quick look- then after looking told us that the car was not road worthy as something to do with the breaks was shot. Gulp! The cost felt like nothing compared to our thankfulness that nothing had totally broken while we were out and about (and they found the time to fix it that day too!)

I received a box in the mail this week from a friend with 4 different types of gluten free flour, some recipes and other baking goodies. Then I got a $5 gift card in the mail from a local business that just remodeled. It was an invitation to come check out the new store – I already used it! My teacher rewards check from another local store arrived so I have money to buy some more school supplies. It is amazing how God supplies exactly what you need when you need it.

So thankful for God’s provision of a job for Lee. Another reminder of his faithfulness!
I’m thankful that this weekend I was encouraged in my faith. I got to attend a women’s meeting where an awesome speaker challenged us, as completely ordinary women, to change the world for the Lord by reaching out to pray with people we come in contact with on an everyday basis- for healing, or for whatever their needs are. What a thought!

    Hi Lizzie,

Your testimony has boosted my strength to keep on…even when it seems like nothing is happening on the ‘other side’. I know God is faithful. Sometimes a long walk thru the valley, and I start forgetting. Thanks for the reminder that He’s working even when I can’t see it! Praying for you and your family.
