He Lifted Me

by adustyframe ~ November 7th, 2009

Isn’t it a wonderful blessing to know that He lifts us and reclaims us?

This is an old hymn, but here is another lovely version of it. (I really really like Mac Lynch’s voice!)

In loving-kindness Jesus came,
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Through grace He lifted me.
Refrain:
From sinking sand He lifted me,
With tender hand He lifted me;
From shades of night to plains of light,
Oh, praise His Name, He lifted me!

He called me long before I heard,
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His word,
Forgiv’n, He lifted me.

His brow was pierced with many a thorn,
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief, forlorn,
In love He lifted me.

Now on a higher plane I dwell,
And with my soul I know ’tis well;
Yet how or why, I cannot tell,
He should have lifted me.

    I love that hymn. I hate to think where I would be today had He not lifted me. It amazes me evertime I hear or think of the fact “He called me long before I heard” In the song Jesus and Me there is a line “I looked for a friend, not knowing that He had all of the time been looking for me” I am so glad He loves me for I am so unworthy of His love, yet still He loves me. Praise the Lord!

    I love this hymn
    ‘though how or why, I cannot tell, He should have lifted me’- what an awesome God we have. We will never understand why He chose us, but praise HIs name that He did!
