I received Lost Mission by Athol Dickson to review from Litfuse.

I’ve never read any of his books before and I looked forward to reading a work by a new (to me) author.

I have to be honest here. At first, the book did not draw me in.  It goes from different time periods from one sentence to the next and that was jarring to me at first.

Usually books have some sort of page break or something to indicate that the time period changed. It took a bit of getting used to, but after I did and I read a little further in the story, I became engrossed.

Lost Mission describes the plight of Mision de Santa Dolores and the priest who lived there. It also weaves in the story of Mexican immigrants, Californians, and plague.

At the end the pieces fall together. I did enjoy reading this book after all, although I didn’t quite like the ending!
