Lee’s Roommate
by adustyframe ~ January 6th, 2010I told you about this guy last summer. Lee is rooming with him again.
I’ve talked with him on the phone a few times. I’ve only met him once at the probation officer’s office.
Lee helps him a lot. He doesn’t seem to know how to take care of himself.
Lee acts like it’s a big old burden, but I know he cares about the guy more than he lets on.
He’s tried to teach him how to grocery shop. He’s encouraged him to get a job. He’s helped him fill out paperwork.
Lee also picks on him and teases him.
Yesterday, Matt called me to ask me something. In the course of the conversation he said, “I think of you and Lee like my family.”
I thought that was nice and sad at the same time. He doesn’t see his own family very much.
Then he said, “And I don’t even have a problem with you being Christians.”
I tried not to laugh at him! I was thinking it’s a good thing he doesn’t mind we’re Christians, because that’s not going to change.
So, now that he says we’re family and he doesn’t mind that we’re Christians, I think it’s time for him to come to church with us! He wants nothing to do with that, but with time and prayer who knows what God will do.

Three years ago my brother brought a girl home from China. We started praying. They got married later that year. We kept praying. They’ve bought a house and had two kids. We keep praying.
Last weekend she said to me, “I’d like to go to that thing at your church on Sunday morning. Do they have a group for someone who is not Christian? I am not yet ready to be Christian but I want to learn more so I can decide.”
I, very calmly, said yes and gave her some options. I’m still praying.
Keep praying!
awesome!

Oh my word!!!! There is no doubt that the Lord
has put this man in Lee’s life for a reason…..what
a blessing for this man to see what the love and
grace of Christ can do. I’ll add him to my prayer
list. God Bless, Pam, South Bend

That is neat to hear! I hope and pray he will come to church and that Lee will continue to have an open door with him and wisdom in his interactions with him.

You never know when God will open this man’s heart. Keep planting those seeds of God’s love in his heart.

So glad to hear how God is working through your lives to affect Matt. Will pray that Matt will go to church with you. That the Holy Spirit will conflict him of his need. Praise God.

In the hardest of circumstances God always can open a door for salvation- hallelujah! I pray that this may be sjust such a case. On another thought- what would happen if Lee were not helping him? Would he get support or would he just drift along not coping until he (possible) ended back up inside again?
