My greatest weight loss tip is to try a low GI diet. Foods with a low impact on blood sugar. Google it, I lost 45 pounds doing low GI last year. Great job on staying motivated and keeping to your goals. If the snow would melt around here maybe I could get back to the gym!

Baby steps, baby steps! You're headed in the right direction! I applaud you for your discipline ... I struggle with that. I had a slow metabolism but was able to get it moving with these tips:

- drink hot ginger tea (ginger is a great metabolism booster) ... my favorite is Yogi Ginger Tea

- sprinkle cayenne on food when you can (a great metabolism booster)

- eat mostly fresh, raw veggies and fruits instead of cooked (they still retain the enzymes needed to help them digest & will pass through your system faster and cleanly) ... for most cooked veggies, steam them lightly (ex: steamed grean beans or broccoli drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt & cayenne)

- eat lots of deep green salads (spinach, baby greens, romaine) with homemade healthy salad dressings

- cut out bread entirely for a while (I had trouble with gluten ... not an allergy but felt bad when I ate it and it really bogged down my digestive system)

- eat plain yogurt with bananas & cinnamon (yogurt has lots of good bacteria to help your intestines get in gear & cinnamon is a good metabolism booster) and/or take a good probiotic

- drink enough water with fresh lemon juice (a natural diuretic to help with water retention)

- exercise (which you're doing!)

- get plenty of sleep (which you're working on)

- take 1 tsp psyllium husks in a few ounces of water 3x/day for 2 weeks, then back off to 1 tsp/day (helps cleans out your digestive system & any old undigestible muck -- junk that we eat -- that clings to the sides of your intestines and ferments there -- GROSS, huh???) ... a colon cleanse is another good thing to do but I haven't gotten brave enough for that yet. haha.

A couple of years ago, I went 3 weeks eating only raw fruits & veggies and boy, my metabolism jumpstarted. I also felt better than I've ever felt in my life. Many folks think that's a little radical, though. :-)

Thanks for the tips! I'll have to look for that tea. I'd be interested in some homemade dressing recipes!

Good for you Lizzie. Don't worry- in a few months it will be me blogging about teh need to shift my large amounts of flab. In the past I have done 'slimming world'- not sure if you ahve it in the states, and it has worked. Also was doing a dancersize dvd which I found much more fun than just an exercise one.

However I am not a late night girl- I need my bed by 10 :)

I'm very happy about everything you've been accomplishing that you wanted to. :) I do hope you can reach your goal of weight loss and getting to bed on time. I need to do that myself. I really miss the sunrises... it doesn't rise at 10am though... or at 2am-3am that I'm usually up too.

But I hope to start getting up early like I did last summer - 6:30-7am. I got to see every sunrise, and from a beautiful place in our field! I love the sunrise! It always makes me feel refreshed.

many blessings and I do hope you reach your goals!

Thank you :)

I love this! Boy, I wish I could get into the groove of an early bedtime, too. I understand your frustration with a slow pace - it's nearly impossible for me to lose weight while I am nursing - and soooo hard to say no DAILY to what I know should be a special occasion treat! I'm cheering you on and am working with my husband on making a plan for consistent exercise - NOT my favorite, but totally and completely necessary.
