Trusting

by adustyframe ~ March 9th, 2010

Two weeks ago, Lee lost his job due to lack of work. They said, “We’ll call you back in a few weeks if we have more work.”

We haven’t heard a word yet.

Lee doesn’t qualify for unemployment, because he hadn’t earned enough in previous quarters.

So many times, over the past days, I’ve prayed, “Oh, Lord, what are we going to do?”

I told the Lord that I don’t understand. This job was so difficult for Lee to get. It was such a huge blessing and we were grateful. God’s plan is apparently different than our own.

Every time I’ve prayed the “What are we going to do” prayer, this verse comes to mind.

Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

To have perfect peace, I have to keep my mind on him. Focusing on the dwindling money, worrying about what we’re going to do, and falling apart won’t bring peace.

Lee and I are both pursuing business ventures. To say the least it’s a scary feeling. If you’d like something to pray for, please pray that if we’ll know what and when we’re supposed to do things.

I’m praying that the right path will be clear to us and that we’ll know what God wants us to do.

Also, that in the meanwhile, God would provide all our needs. I have to admit that I’m praying just a little that his job will call him back, but I want to follow the plan God has for us.

Thanks for sharing how we can pray. I have to admit, I’ve been frustrated for you … “God, they’ve been through so much! I know You’re doing something good here, but how long … and many setbacks? I believe that You are in control and these *aren’t* truly setbacks … You see the whole picture … I believe; help my unbelief.” I’ve been praying for God’s will to be done … for you both to have peace and to trust Him … and for Lee to remain encouraged and faithful in His walk. And though this journey seems so up, down, and all over the place, for you to have forbearance and to be settled deep in your heart with a peace that passes understanding that God is doing something good here! James 1:2-4 … Oh yes, and for Lee to find a new/better job (God willing)! 🙂

Thanks, I need to pray the same thing!

Just curious and you don’t have to share the answer if you don’t want to, but does Lee have to accept ANY job offered–or only those in his “field”? Just curious–on unemployment I could reject jobs outside my field–not sure how the courts handle this.

Will pray for His provision for you in a timely way and for guidance in your business ventures. I know it is tough to wait and trust when the needs are pressing.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7
