I’m Out Back…

by adustyframe ~ June 1st, 2010

I’ve been working outside in the garden this past week & weekend.

I planted my veggies–

Purple Prudens heirloom tomato

Bush cucumber

Carrots–free organic seeds

Spinach–same as above!

Garlic–free bulbs at the Farmer’s Market

Butter crunch heirloom lettuce–from my lettuce last year

Purple heirloom beans–from my beans last year

4 different kinds of basil–I like basil!

I love the free seeds. I’m learning how to save seeds from a few of the other things I’m growing too. I also learned I could split my peonies! I wish I’d have discovered that last year, so I could have had more bushes this year.

I’m also working on a side garden bed that has been ugly for ages. A couple summers ago, I planted hostas. I got all of them for free either on freecycle or from friends.

This year, I divided one of them and got 3 more plants. I loved that too! I planted some groundcover between them, but it’s just a start. I’ll have to add a little more next year.

I dug up my daffodils. I had a huge clump of green, but only 1 flower this year. When I dug them up, I found 50+ bulbs. So, I’m planting the daffodils between the hostas and around in the other gardens. I love the free daffodils too!

I also potted a few flowers for my steps.

I’ve been doing some fun creative projects too and I did take photos of all this, but I’ve been out back and haven’t uploaded them yet…..:)

Did you plant anything?

When our gutters came crashing down (from the weight of ice)
in January it took out our lilac bush and EVERYTHING around it…
so I have been re-planting…..changed to poppy’s, lillys and
    ground cover…..
