Kitchen Meme
by adustyframe ~ August 3rd, 2010I saw this at Barbara’s ages ago and thought I’d play along–finally!

1. Do you have magnets on your fridge? Very few. I hate a cluttered fridge.
On the front, I have some clear acrylic frames that I decorated and glued magnets on the back. I slip pictures in them and enjoy the clean look. The sides of the fridge have a few more magnets with projects or chore charts attached.
2. Do you have a calendar in your kitchen, if so, what’s the theme of it? nope
3. What is your favorite kitchen gadget? hmmm… I have quite a few! (Did you know my major was Home Ec?) I really like the little whisk from Pampered Chef that’s for mixing drinks in the cup or glass. I use it for pudding and all sorts of other things too.
4. Are you lucky enough to have a pantry of some kind? Yes, I have a long narrow room with cupboards and shelves. It’s almost too narrow though. I’d like to decorate it and make it pretty some day. It’s rather old and ugly looking right now.
5.What is your favorite appliance? The stove. Most of my married life I had a stove with only 2 burners that worked. I also had an apartment sized stove. Lee got me a brand new (cheap) stove a couple years ago and it’s so nice.
6. Do you have an eat in kitchen (table in it)? We used to have the table in it until I brought the old counter home from my store. I use that as an island now and there’s no room for the table.
7. Do you have a bread box? no
8. Do you have a picture of your kids on the fridge? yes of course!
9. Do you ever cook breakfast in your jammies? Cook breakfast?! ha ha we usually have quick breakfasts, but yes I almost always am in my jammies at breakfast time.
10. Do you have a favorite cookbook that you use? I enjoy Amish cookbooks and church cookbooks. I don’t know if I have a favorite. I refer to a Better Homes and Garden cookbook when I need to know how to make a sauce or something like that. Of course my very own cook book is my favorite!
11. Are you lucky enough to have recipes that were passed down from your mom or grandma? Yes! My mom and my dad’s mom. Sweet potato casserole, pop over pizza casserole, crazy cake, pecan pie…
12. What’s your favorite food? chocolate, coffee, Mexican stuff, cheese
13. What’s your favorite thing to cook? I don’t know if I have a favorite. I enjoy making desserts although I try not to because I don’t need them and Lee eats very few sweets.
14. Is your coffee pot electric or stove top? Electric.
15. Do you ever make your own bread? I can but I rarely do.
16. Name one thing that you have hanging on your wall in your kitchen: an old washboard (my washer and dryer is in the kitchen too)
17. Is there a clock in your kitchen? yes on the stove and on the wall
18. Do you have a bowl of fruit sitting on your table or counter? well, it’s under the counter on a shelf in the island
19. What type of canisters do you have? Tupperware, but it’s in a cupboard right outside my kitchen door (my back porch is enclosed and there is a cupboard literally right outside the kitchen door–but it’s not “outside”…hmmm wonder if that makes sense?)
20. Does your kitchen have a theme? Hydrangeas
21. What’s for supper tonight? not sure yet
22. Do you have enough cabinet space? not really
23. Does your family use paper plates? Rarely. Usually just when my family is visiting and we don’t want to be bothered with dishes.
24. Do you have a good set of china? Actually, my friend Joy gave me hers before she went to Japan. It’s pretty violets and works with my kitchen theme. I did finally get a pretty set of Pfaltzgraff a few years ago and they promptly retired it!
I also finally got a set of Christmas dishes which makes me pretty happy! (It’s Pfaltzgraff Winterberry.) They were on sale at Amazon for $40 for the whole set of 4 place settings. I’ve wanted Christmas dishes since I was in college and a professor shared hers with the “Foods Lab” class.
25. Do you wear an apron to work in your kitchen? Not usually which is probably why my shirts are stained.
26. Name one thing, if anything, that you would like to change about your kitchen. More counter top–I have very little. The island has been a good thing but it’s a bit too tall for rolling out things or even extended stirring. I’d also love a kitchen with fewer doors–our kitchen is a traffic hub with 5 doors going to different parts of the house.
Feel free to borrow this as well. Let me know if you do!

I do remember this one! It’s always fun to visit other people’s kitchens.
I can’t imagine 5 doors in one, though!
We don’t have a pantry now, but will have a big one in the new house. Can’t wait!

I will do this soon! Thanks, I have been in a blogging mental famine. Maybe this will help me break out of it.

We entertain my husband’s office staff and spouses for a Christmas dinner party each year, and my DH let me get the Winterberry dishes. They are so pretty!
My family has some Mennonite background, so I like Menno./Amish style cooking. My mom passed away last summer, and I got her old Mennonite cookbook that she used, so that would have to be my favorite cookbook. The pages are stained at the recipes she used the most, and it will always be precious to me to look at them.

Loved reading it–will try to add to my blog, too!
