Night Out

by adustyframe ~ August 4th, 2010

James and I went to the National Night Out last night.

Lot of community organizations were there with information and games for the children. It was also a community awareness/police event.

The children’s library gave children the opportunity to sign up for a ride to the event in the back of a police car. James entered which surprised me!

He said he’d give it to his friends if he won. He said riding in the back of a police car would be a nightmare!

I chuckled at him but I was proud of him that he wanted to go to the event and that he didn’t mind entering the drawing for his friends.

He got to try to lift a swat team shield, tour a fire truck, and swat vehicle, watch a presentation by a canine unit, and spray a fire hose.

He had a lot of fun and he even won a bowling party from a local bowling lane.

It was good for him to see the police interacting with the community and I think it helped him a lot.

I can imagine that poor James might have some “off” ideas about the police. I’m so glad that he got to have such fun at that event!
