Tropical Traditions~Organic Thick Rolled Oats Review & Giveaway

by adustyframe ~ October 21st, 2011

MMMM it’s oatmeal weather!!!

I received a bag of organic thick rolled oats from Tropical Traditions to review here on A Dusty Frame.

These oats are very hearty and a little thicker than the old fashioned rolled oats I usually buy.

I snitched a few raw–they were good!

We also made this recipe several times and found the oats excellent in it.

If you’d like to try these yummy oats yourself, here’s what you need to do to enter the giveaway:

1. Subscribe to Tropical Traditions newsletter and leave a comment here saying you did so.

For Extra Entries:

2. Go to Tropical Traditions website and find a product or recipe that you’d like to try. Come back here and leave a link to that product or recipe.

3. Tweet about this giveaway or put it on your facebook status and leave a comment here. (limit 1 tweet or status update per day)

4. Leave a link to your favorite oatmeal recipe–or share it in a comment.

My favorite oatmeal recipe is 5 cups water, 3 cups oatmeal. Chop up an apple or two and add the apple to the water along with a cup of raisins. Bring the water to a boil and let the apples and raisins soften. Add the oatmeal and cook until it is done. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup each chopped dates and chopped walnuts. I do not add sugar but you can if you like. :0) Makes enough for 1 adult and 4 kids.

I would like to try the Creamy Fall Oats recipe. I hadn’t really thought of putting pumpkin puree into my oatmeal before, but it sounds like it would be yummy on a chilly fall morning.

Here is a link to a recipe I created and submitted to Sunbutter. It is a cookie recipe which uses Sunbutter (instead of peanut butter), oats, chocolate chips and more.

My favorite oatmeal recipe has to be the oatmeal cookies on the inside of the Quaker Oats box. (I don’t use those anymore, since we went organic, but that IS a yummy recipe)
