Christmas Favorites~ Mine and Yours?

by adustyframe ~ November 25th, 2011

I made this list of favorite Christmas music a couple years ago. It it just the Christmas CD’s I own and seem to keep every year.

My sister likes this CD by Josh Groban. I haven’t purchased it yet. I did purchase Susan Boyle’s Christmas CD this year at her suggestion.

Are any of them your favorites?

Mine is It’s A Wonderful Life. I know the theology isn’t perfect. I still love it! I have to watch it at least once during December.

I also like:

Charlie Brown Christmas

Miracle on  34th Street–I like the old and the new version.

The Nativity Story

Home Alone (James and I STILL crack up at all the cheesy stuff!)

The Preacher’s Wife

The Santa Claus–even though we don’t “do Santa” we still watch some Santa movies.

Dare I admit that we like Christmas with the Kranks? We laugh a LOT when we watch it. I can’t vouch for every element in it. I think I’ve seen it enough times that I think it’s mostly ok–but we all have our own standards right?

Last year, I watched Mrs. Miracle–it’s cute. I’m not sure I’d say it’s an all time favorite but it was good and clean.

We like Frosty and Rudolph but we don’t have to watch them. I also enjoy any Christmas episodes from classic TV shows. We have a DVD from 50’s TV–all Christmas episodes. James loves them. I love that he loves old TV!

We watch any Christmas Carol if we catch it airing.

I reviewed The Great Christmas Bowl a couple years ago. I think it was fun light reading!

Another light reading fun book is A Purse Driven Christmas by Anita Renfroe.

Shepherds Abiding by Jan Karon is wonderful.

I enjoyed these two short stories in the Miss Read series–Christmas Tales.

I haven’t quite finished this book, but it’s a compilation of LM Montgomery’s Christmas stories–not necessarily all about Anne. Christmas with Anne.

When James was small, I started collecting Christmas books. I picked them up at thrift stores, so there are all sorts of subjects and authors. We’re not completely in love with any of them but still enjoy putting them out.

However, this book is our very favorite. The Christmas Miracle of Johnathan Toomey. The story is wonderful and the illustrations are gorgeous! I never tire of reading this book to James or looking at it myself.

I picked up this pamphlet at the Creation Museum–Uncovering the Real Nativity. It was very thought provoking!

I’m SURE I’ve missed a lot of good ones and a lot of my own favorites! But I don’t want to work on this post all day either! The time factor is why I didn’t post a link to each book or movie either. (If you shop on Amazon don’t forget me please…)
So pretty please share your favorite Christmas books, music and movies with me–you’ll have to leave a comment. I couldn’t get my link tools to work.

Lizzie, I love your recommendations! I’m going to have to try some of these definitely! I have the Josh Groban Christmas album and just love it! I’ve been waiting to create a post like this for the last few years, but haven’t taken the time to do so. It takes a lot of time to link them up at Amazon for sure!
