Heart of Gold~Robin Lee Hatcher~BookSneeze Review

by adustyframe ~ January 30th, 2012

This is my first ever Kindle book review. I got an email from BookSneeze with the soon to be released books and saw Robin Lee Hatcher’s new book was available. By the time I got there it was only for e-readers but hey! I have a new Kindle.

I downloaded it and got right to “work” reading Heart of Gold.

I enjoy Robin Lee Hatcher’s writing and this book was no exception. The story is set in Idaho (aren’t most of hers?) and Shannon is brought to a gold mining town by her father a pastor.

She has NO desire to be there and would prefer to be home in Virginia in her well to do circle. The story shares her struggle and ultimate decision to be content where God has placed her. Of course the handsome stage coach driver helps her change her mind about hating the gold mining town.

I like that this was set in the Civil War but isn’t a Civil War story. And once again, another Robin Lee Hatcher book that is enjoyable.

If you like Westerns, Christian novels, or Robin Lee Hatcher, I’m sure you’ll like this one.

Here’s a description from the publisher:

Against Shannon’s wishes, love stakes its claim in her heart. Will she discover treasure or treachery?

When Shannon Adair accompanies her minister father to the western gold rush town of Grand Coeur, she’s certain she’ll never be happy away from her beloved Virginia, even though the South is still gripped in civil war.

Wells Fargo driver Matthew Dubois isn’t sure the lovely Shannon belongs in Idaho Territory either, but he is a desperate man. His widowed sister is dying and leaving her young son, Todd, in his care. Matthew wants to return to driving coach for the express company soon—so he’ll have to find a wife to look after the boy when he’s away.

Shannon is determined not to lose her heart to a man who is neither a Southerner nor a gentleman. But love stakes its claim. Now, will her heart survive learning the truth behind the courtship?

*Disclosure–I received a free e-reader copy of this book in order to provide my review.

I do like Robin Lee Hatcher though I’m not terribly fond of “girl goes West” stories. I’m sure I’ll be looking for this when it comes out.
