1. I always feel sad when I see abandoned houses. I think there is something so pretty about them but I always wonder how they got so decayed and then I feel sad.

I think that reading this book when I was little has something to do with that.

2. I still hang my clothes in my closet in color order–just like I did at my store! I organized all the clothing racks by size, category, and color to help the shoppers find what they were looking for without having to sort through everything.

Hanging in color order stuck with me (mostly–I do get lazy). My clothes are hung white, green, yellow, orange, pink, red, purple, blue, brown, gray, black. No I’m not being obsessive compulsive! (honestly) I just got used to that at the store and it really does look nice!

3. I’ve mostly been reading lately. Not much crafting or knitting. I skimmed a book about Queen Elizabeth which was interesting. I’m reading a book about Winston Churchill–good so far. I also read a little book called Plain and Simple that I found at the thrift store. It’s the reflections of the author who went to live with the Amish. It was pretty good too!

4. I used to read a lot about the Amish. My living room in my 1st apartment was decorated with Amish things (crafts–not real Amish things). I do read some of the Amish fiction but I don’t go crazy on it. Some of it gets weak and I feel that a lot of the authors just jumped on the bandwagon. But I do like some of them–especially those that have ties to the Amish or have done significant research.

Oh! The 1st vacation Lee and I took included a stop at Lancaster, PA and we rode in an Amish buggy!

Hmmm that’s about all the tidbits about me for today.

Anything true confessions to share with me?

I feel the same way about abandoned houses……I ways think that someone had a dream to live there…..

I am first generation removed from the Amish Culture… dad was raised Old Order……I do enjoy Beverly Lewis books……she is pretty true to the culture.

  2. Blessy @ Stellar Tatter

I like the Amish way of life. Especially after watching “For Richer or Poorer” (starring Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley) and also this documentary about them. I like it. Very simple and traditional. I wish we would all go back to simpler days!

  3. Janet

I feel sad about the abandoned houses, too. I would much rather have an old house than a brand new one!

  4. Mae

When I see abandoned houses, I always wonder if there used to be a family there, with laughing children and Christmas presents and home cooked meals… They make me feel wistful. But I do *love* to look at them – not sure why!
