The other day, I logged into Facebook and saw a new message. It was from my brother and it made my day.

Hey Liz.

Just wanted to drop a note and tell you how proud I am of you and Lee making your marriage work. You guys are a good example to everyone around watching.

It would have been so easy for you guys to call it quits with everything going on, and people saying things. But you guys depended on God, and made it last.

Lately, it seems like people take marriage lightly. Not only with my friends recently separating, but now we just learned that my wife’s newly married family member just left her husband.

It is just refreshing to see a couple go through really hard times, and not give up.

Very nice. And I agree with everything he said.

Smile! People are watching us and looking at how we deal with the difficult times. What a nice thing for your brother to do.

YES! When I was writing thank you notes for wedding gifts, I often wrote something to the effect of “Thank you for the towels. We are even more grateful for your example of a marriage that honors Christ over the years.” We younger couples NEED these examples of couples who honor their vows. I know you didn’t do it for me, but I thank you all the same.

yes! and as i’ve said over and over, the other side is a level of hell you do not want to know exists. there are many reasons God hates divorce, but you don’t find them out till you walk that path.

i know it’s hard staying married and making it work, but the alternative is worse than you even want to imagine.

many kudos to you and your husband, and eternal gratitude to God
