What I Did Today…

by adustyframe ~ August 10th, 2012

Did I happen to mention that Lee and James are in the semi together this week?  They left on Monday and will be back some time next week.

I really am not getting all the things done that I want to. I’m not sure why. I haven’t done a ton of cleaning or organizing. I haven’t done a ton of resting. I haven’t done a ton of crafting. I’m doing bits and pieces of things and I guess that’s fine. I do have to finish up school planning and ordering though.

Here’s what I did today.

1. I went to the chiropractor to get my sore neck adjusted. While there, I purchased 2 dozen eggs from the receptionist. She feeds them all natural and sells them for $1.50 a dozen!

2. I met my friend at Starbucks for a nice loooooong chat! That was very nice. She and I both got some coffee grounds for our gardens for free.

And here is a reminder to check your white balance before you take photos–yes, even on a “cheap” camera. This is the same shot–same spot, same time, same light, same cup, same editing–I just forgot to check my white balance before I took it.

3. I stopped at the craft store for yarn to make this shrug. I didn’t get the yarn suggested but got another off brand thick chunky yarn. We’ll see how that goes.

4. For lunch, I had a ground sirloin hamburger patty and a plate full of tomato–the 1st ripe one!

5. I watched a little of the Olympics and read a little of this book–which I subsequently finished tonight.

6. I had a repeat of lunch for dinner since it was so yummy.

7. I made a batch of twice baked potatoes to put in the freezer. I hope they turn out well and that the boys like them because I made 40.

8. I went outside to read my book but ended up trimming some weeds and checking out our rogue pumpkin that sprouted out of the compost pile. It’s currently trying to take over the backyard. We have 5 or 6 pumpkins on it right now and a couple are turning orange.

I lit a fire in the fire bowl but I’m not good at it and it fizzled out fast. So I checked out the garden and picked beans and cucumbers.

9. When I came inside, I decided to make a batch of my pickles. I only put in 1 c. of sweetener and used xylitol instead of sugar. We’ll see how they turn out.

10. Then I wrote this post and now I’m going to knit!

What did you today?

Very interesting and busy day. You really did get lots done.

Now I’m hungry. I hear ya on the white balance. Now I mostly shoot in raw so I don’t have to worry.

I usually save RAW for portrait sessions 🙂

Looks like a very productive day to me! Way to go! Freezing twice baked potatoes is a great idea- I should try that out.

There is nothing……and I do mean NOTHING like fresh homegrown tomatoes……..unless it homegrown sweet corn…..a winning combination

That sounds like a lovely day. We empty our used coffee grounds onto the hydrangea plants and Japanese magnolia, but I’ve never thought of asking for them at a coffee shop. I received the camera strap that I won from you and my daughter whose favorite color is pink is enjoying the pink flowers on the camera strap now. Thank you!

I do not even know HOW to check my white balance. LOL But I love your idea of doing a big batch of twice-baked potatoes and putting them in the freezer. Making a mental note to do it that way next time and save myself some trouble. 😉
