Cloth Diaper Wipes

by adustyframe ~ November 20th, 2013

When James was a baby, I made the baby wipes with paper towels. I was pretty sure I’d make those again, unless I found a huge deal on wipes.

While I was pregnant, I did buy a couple cases of wipes online when they were super cheap. But I also got some cloth wipes. Since I’m using cloth diapers, I thought I’d give them a try but I wasn’t too sure.

The more I used cloth diapers, the more sense it made to use cloth wipes so I started and haven’t looked back. The wipes I have are from some different brands including some a local mom made. I have approximately 60 wipes–this is enough to have a batch in the tub, wipes in the diaper bucket, and enough to make a new batch when I run out.

Here’s what I do :

In an old wipes tub, I add 3 cups of warm water, 1 Tbsp of olive or coconut oil, 1 squirt baby wash, 10-15 drops of both tea tree and lavender oil.

I swish it all together with a fork and set about 25 wipes in the tub. I grab the pile and turn it over so the top wipes get wet and then it’s good to go!

Baby’s tush has been very happy with these and they’re no more work because they just get washed with the diapers.

I love that I’m not throwing wipes away and I’m not wasteful if I use 10 wipes for 1 diaper change! I also think that cloth wipes are actually less work than making wipes with paper towels.

I do put disposable wipes in the diaper bag though.
