Bible Time

“It’s Bible time, it’s Bible time….” Does anyone know that song?

Anyway, since the baby was born, I’ve been SERIOUSLY slacking on my Bible reading. I’ve read bits here and there and I’ve read some devotional type books but Bible time or quiet time has just been hard.

Most mornings, I sleep until the baby wakes up and that means that he needs to nurse, have his diaper changed, get dressed, and play. Then James needs to be roused out of bed and get his morning going.

Then baby is ready to nurse again and get to sleep and then my house is awaiting my attention.

This morning, I woke up before baby and sneaked out of bed (he sleeps either in my bed or in his crib in my room….therefore I’m not setting an alarm to get up before him!) I used the bathroom, made some coffee, set out some study books I’ve been wanting to get back to….and….. a little “Mom! I’m awake” cry sounded from the other room.

Initially, I felt a little frustrated, and then I said, “You know what, Lord, I think you understand.”

I think the Lord does understand. For this season of my life, reading and thinking about a verse once in awhile, reading when I have time, listening to Christian music, memorizing a verse or two when I can….I think He knows and knows my heart.

For now, I left the Bible and books on the table and hopefully, I’ll get back to them today. Otherwise, I’ll pray and think about God and His goodness to me and trust that He knows that I’m in a very different season. A season I’m in because He abundantly blessed me with another child that I prayed for for a very long time.

1 Thought Shared to Bible Time

One of the things that I loved about nursing babies was reading books. I didn’t read my Bible while nursing, because it is large and hard to hold while nursing. I did read many other books. I would think if your Bible is not too large and you are wanting to just read and not mark and take notes while you read, I think you could manage. I found reading helped me to relax which also helped milk flow. Maybe you can find a position that will work for you while you nurse.
