Childhood Flashback

by adustyframe ~ February 12th, 2015

I was making these no bake energy bites for a treat. I did forget to add the flax!

I licked the spoon before dropping it into the sink. I thought it was only peanut butter on the spoon but there was a little bit of honey.

I instantly remembered our favorite sandwiches that mom made us for lunch.

Open faced peanut butter with honey drizzled on top with colorful sprinkles. Yeah artificial color and probably too much honey…..BUT that bite I licked off the spoon was so yummy.

It’s fun to remember cool things from when I was a kid. It reminds me to make cool memories and make fun treats for my kids too–even with colored sprinkles!

Do you have any food favorites that bring back childhood memories?

And more importantly do you lick the bowl (or spoons!?)

Check out my Pinterest board of childhood memories.

A very simple lunch (but probably not the healthiest) that my mom used to make sometimes was to cut up hot dogs into tomato sauce, heat it through, and then serve with macaroni and cheese. My kids love it too. My husband will eat it, but he is not thrilled with it, so we often have it when he is not at home. It’s one of those carryover childhood pleasures.

Yes, I do lick the spoon. 🙂

Yes we lick spoons here at our house. My Mom used to make sour cream raisin pie. I still love it. Finally found a restaurant in St. James that makes it like she did.
