Thanksgiving Plans?

What are your Thanksgiving plans?

We will be spending time with family and staying in a hotel for 2 nights–sort of like a mini vacation. We’re looking forward to catching up with everyone including some of our far away family who just got in last night.

Lee is almost home–he should be home by bedtime tonight.

I love the feeling of almost all of us being gathered in together.

We’re eating the usual turkey and fixings but I will take along some of my no carbs, no sugar, no dairy stuff. Although, I think that for the day, I will allow myself some dairy but no sugar or high carbs–pray for me!

What will you be doing?

    We’ll be home with my son and d-i-l and grandson coming over and all the usual traditional foods. We’re sorry that our oldest won’t be here, but he will be at Christmas.

    It would be hard to pick out one favorite hymn or verse – there are so many of them. For the Beauty of the Earth stands out, I think because we only hear or sing it around Thanksgiving. Another is Thanks to God For My Redeemer by August Ludvig Storm. I think Mac Lynch has a nice recording of this somewhere.

    1. Thanks to God for my Redeemer,
    Thanks for all Thou dost provide!
    Thanks for times now but a mem’ry,
    Thanks for Jesus by my side!
    Thanks for pleasant, balmy springtime,
    Thanks for dark and stormy fall!
    Thanks for tears by now forgotten,
    Thanks for peace within my soul!

    2. Thanks for prayers that Thou hast answered,
    Thanks for what Thou dost deny!
    Thanks for storms that I have weathered,
    Thanks for all Thou dost supply!
    Thanks for pain, and thanks for pleasure,
    Thanks for comfort in despair!
    Thanks for grace that none can measure,
    Thanks for love beyond compare!

    3. Thanks for roses by the wayside,
    Thanks for thorns their stems contain!
    Thanks for home and thanks for fireside,
    Thanks for hope, that sweet refrain!
    Thanks for joy and thanks for sorrow,
    Thanks for heav’nly peace with Thee!
    Thanks for hope in the tomorrow,
    Thanks through all eternity!

    Happy Thanksgiving,Lizzie! I am working tomorrow 1-9:30 p.m. Then cooking dinner Thursday for the 5 of us who live here. My daughter, who got married in Sept. and moved away, will be arriving tomorrow night with her husband and they will eat with us. Yeah! Friday I will be working all day and then home to a houseful of company to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Saturday I will sleep and head off to work again from 1-9:30. I will be exhausted by Saturday night!

    So glad you will get to spend time with your family. Also you get to have a mini vacation.

    Bob and I will be attending dinner at the Covenant church here in Trimont where we attended for about a year and a half when we first moved here. We know a lot of the people there. There will be about 55 people attending. I will bake a pumpkin pie later today and then making a green bean casserole Thanksgiving morning . Will take both along with us.

    Come ye thankful people come- Raise the song of harvest home. All is safely gathered in, Ere the winter storms begin.
    God our Maker. doth provide For our wants to be supplied:
    Come to God’s own temple come- Raise the song of harvest home

    All the world is God’s own field, Fruit unto His praise to yield;
    Wheat and tares together sown, Unto joy or sorrow grown.
    First the blade and then the ear, Then the full corn shall appear:
    Lord of harvest, grant that we Whole- some grain and pure maybe.

    For the Lord our God shall come And shall take His harvest home;
    From His field shall in that day All offenses purge away;
    Give His angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast,
    But the fruitful ears to store In His garner ever more.

    Even so Lord, quickly come To Thy final harvest home;
    Gather Thou Thy people in, Free from sorrow, free from sin;
    There forever purified, In Thy presence to abide:
    Come, with all Thine angels, come- Raise the glorious harvest home.
