Last of the vacation projects

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Here are the last few projects I worked on over our vacation.
Socks for James–he wears them like slippers. The pattern I found for his pair uses thicker yarn and bigger needles. They knit up quite fast.

Then I just HAD to knit socks for my “due any day now” nephew. We’re so excited but I suppose [...]

The big reveal

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Ta da—I finally got the photos edited.
There are a ton. I couldn’t get one good photo of the whole room so I just went around taking shots of everything.
For those of you who have had the privilege of using my old ugly bathroom, you wouldn’t recognize the place.
I don’t have any good before photos for [...]

Catching Up

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

James and I spent the morning putting the kitchen and bathroom back in order.
The house looks like mom has been sick for a week!
It felt nice to get things organized and put away.
My bathroom is looking so nice. I’m so thankful that Lee painted it for me. It makes such a huge difference. I’m looking [...]

Emergency Essentials

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I always try to have food stored in the house. I need to get better at storing water!
I saw this on Crystal’s site yesterday and decided to give it a try.
Emergency Essentials has a free food storage analysis. It was simple to use. We have approximately 60 days worth of food storage in the house! [...]

Works for Me~Candles

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I found a super yummy smelling candle last year and then the wick fell off into the wax and I couldn’t use it!
I thought about melting the wax and trying to make a new candle. I have wick in my craft cupboard, but uggh! Who has the time?
A few weeks ago, while visiting my sister [...]

Laundry Tips~Works for Me

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

When I started selling on Ebay, I learned lots of laundry tips.
Here are a few I use often.
1. I wash on cold unless it’s sheets, underthings, and towels.
2. Add 1 Tbsp of Dawn dish detergent to the water and use 1/2 as much laundry detergent as you’d normally use. It really works and the Dawn [...]

Thrifty Finds

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I really enjoy thrift store shopping. When my friend Joy visited with us, we hit up several.
Here are a couple finds I’ve been enjoying.
Ralph Lauren wallet for .50

A super cute red basket that was also .50.

Have you found anything exciting lately?

My Garden

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Although, I have loved our cooler summer, my garden is not amused.
Everything seems to be growing so slowly!
Here’s a little peek.
James’ onion patch. He doesn’t think they need to be thinned!
I grew 2 kinds of lettuce.

I am growing two kinds of heirloom beans. I purchased the seeds on Etsy. (I got my lettuce seeds there [...]

Works for Me~Sunless Sun Tea

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

I used to set the gallon jar out on the steps to make sun tea.
My mom told me you can do the same thing but just stick it in the fridge. No sun–no hot tea to cool off when you’re thirsty for a big tall glass!
I take the gallon pitcher and 8 tea bags. We’re [...]

Pretty Flowers from my yard

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

I was doing some photo practice today and decided to use the flowers I picked the other day. I enjoy bringing in little flowers to brighten up my kitchen.
I think they’re pretty sweet.
*It appears that lilacs are winning in the poll! They’re my favorite too. I messed up the poll by leaving the extra answers [...]
