(a little late!)
I believe that praying Scripture is a powerful way to pray.
Jesus used Scripture when he prayed.
Matthew 4:1-11 (temptation in the wilderness)
Prayer is also part of our armor Ephesians 6:12-17.
In this passage, there is no hint of failure. Only standing firm if we wear the armor.
When we pray, we pray in the name and [...]

I read this quote by Corrie Ten Boom in my devotions this morning.
“I see certain things that I asked for which were not granted. In recalling each individual circumstance, I am grateful now that God did not give me what I asked for. This shows that we should always pray with an attitude of reverent [...]

I don’t pretend to be an expert on prayer. Studies and books have been written for centuries on this topic and I can’t expound any better than that!
However, I want to share a few reasons why I pray.
I’ve journaled in a blank book for several years when I’m studying a topic or reading the Bible. [...]

When I spoke with Lee tonight, he said he ran into a couple of his nephews today.
He was talking about what’s going on in our life right now.
He said they all went to a friend’s house and sat down and his nephews prayed for him.
I found that incredibly encouraging and heartwarming.
What a blessing to have [...]

Last week, we had a long snowy day. Lee worked late and although he doesn’t come home to us at night, I usually talk to him and know what’s going on.
I hadn’t heard from him so I thought he must have been working later than usual. He works out in the country and I wondered [...]

When I share our story, I don’t necessarily do it to gain prayer partners.
In the very beginning, I shared because I knew other women must be living a similar life and I wanted to encourage them to trust in the Lord.
As time went on, more and more people found us and heard about us and [...]

I’m still working on 12 Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur. Yesterday, I was reading the chapter on Anna. It spoke of her prayers and fasting.
Then John MacArthur says,
“Abstaining from food per se has no mystical effect on anything spiritual. But fasting with prayer reveals a heart so consumed with praying, and so eager to receive [...]

This morning when we started school, James and I prayed. I asked God for something to sell on Etsy or Ebay.
I spent most of the day battling a nasty headache–a by product of my old neck injury. While I was trying to rid myself of the headache, a treasury I was in on Etsy was [...]

Today on Haven, the program was on Ruth Bell Graham. I did not really know much about her. I do admire how she supported her husband’s ministry.
They shared some talks she gave to women. One thing she said gave me chills.
She was talking about St Augustine (whom I also don’t know much about!). He wanted [...]

At night, I check on James before I go to bed.
I rub his little head and pray for him.
I pray that God will fill all the lonely places in his heart. I pray that this won’t ruin him. I pray that he will grow up and be a godly man and have a desire to [...]
